Eh... Dude....

Alright. So a music box theme. Going for a Davy Jones, or something. Just kidding. The melody is okay, but I think it's kind of struggling to hit the fast notes, and the high ones, to be honest. And it doesn't sound very good.
I don't like the violin thing you brought in. At a certain point, it sounds off to me. Not the entire thing, but when I match it to the melody, there is a small section that sounds off, but it could be the fact that the music box melody is struggling. The bass kick is nice, though.
1:36 introduces a trumpet or something, that sounds awful. Now this song is super filled, though, which is a good thing. No emptiness. The choir sounds pretty good, but I don't know if that trumpet is a really good sound for the choir. Do you have better insturments for this? I could see this with a more electronic vibe in it, dude.
I liked how you went back to the single melody. It's a good way to do it. The ending was superb, but it was good, man. Nice job.

BlinkMarine responds:

Well i'd like to say thanks for actually reviewing this song cause not many people bother to give me reviews.
I don't have a big orchestral library, but i'm downloading some stuff now.
I actually put that bass kick in last, i felt something was missing, i thought it sounded good too.
I'll review yours now!

Beat some ass.

I'm liking this revving intro, man. It's getting me pumped. Alright... should end soon... Here's hoping. Here we go. Damn, dude, some of this sounds like the sound is reversed, man. I'm digging this. A lot.
The beat is nice and hard. Making me bob my head, just like you should. But I'm experiencing a problem, here. Nothing has coming to... entrance me, yet. Like it's pretty sweet what you have here, but you don't have an off the hook lead where you just let it rip, you know.
I like the part where the beat gets quiet, and you have the synth do it's job. I didn't like the crazy quick arp, ending with energy. Is that the end? Yeah.
The song felt short, even though 240 is pretty long. You should have put an insane synth in there with an out of this world melody, I'm sure you would have succeeded in making something hard. This is solid, my man.

DXM, like the drug?

tijnn responds:

I'm familiar with the drug, but haven't tried it im afraid, i had a few good reasons not to. :P I really like your criticism, really honest and all.

Thanks for reviewing.

Let me give a listen first

Well, the slow start kinda sounds nice. It's nice, but I don't like the... creep up melody, if that makes sence. Like the tiptoe melody. The song is good, I'm digging the guitar, but I don't like the back melody to it at the start, but it's nice when you do the scale up quick, but not the boop de boop type sound.
I'm not much of a fan on that ending, either. I didn't like that it echoed to an end. It just left me feeling unsatisfied.
No doubt though, this song is cool.

SockpuppetRemix responds:

I'll try to fix all that when I do this song again. =)
Thanks!

Eh...

I like the bass riff with the beat. Sounds pretty cool. I like hearing the slide, and the the guitar is alright, but kinda annoys me, to be honest. Except the lead guitar, or whatever. They just don't seem to mix together. Like, I can't really explain it, but it sounds like you have 4 instruments going in a different direction. The only one that sounds good to me is the bass and beat.
Perhaps you could change them up, or something, I dunno. Some of the shit sounds out of key, or just totally opposite in melody composition...

Last-Illness responds:

Wow, thanx for the fast feedback.
I am glad you liked the beat and the bass. I wanted to go crazy on this one but it seems that it was a bad thing to do. I hardly think that the problem is out key places because I am playing on a constant C# minor pentatonic scale and I memorized the whole pentatonic scales by heart. During the rhythm parts, the rhythm guitar is playing exactly the same notes that the bass guitar is playing, so the reason that you are hearing each instrument playing a different thing is the poor recording quality, I am sorry about that but I can't do anything about it at the moment (if you wanna know why, read my news post).
Thank you for the review and I will review one of your songs as soon as possible.

Dynamite.

Alright. Sounds like some space alien shit. Right on. A unique little style. Alright.
So here we are, working into the song. I'm liking that arpy thing as the first melody with that nice hard kick. The double kicks are nice. I can't tell what just came in. Maybe a bass? I kinda don't like it, because I can hardly make out what it is. I think if it was deeper, provided it's your bass, you'd have quite a little sound.
I kinda wish the melody changed a little. Reminds me off a song I made, not posted. I like your little pitch effect. It's an oddy eerie thing, when the pitch comes in, I think you should make your beeps and boops more strategic to create a nice little back beat.
The bass when it's super bassey and loud, sounds kinda weird. I dunno if I like it or not. But I liked your hats, but now they're gone. Sounds like you're letting the ride slow to a stop. Uhp, nope. You brought it back. Semi-flowish, but it could have used another introduction of a second melody, you know? When you do down-builds, I think another melody should be added. Makes it pro.
Overall, the songs is pretty decent.

Fantum responds:

Thx for the advice, I'll try for some more bassey sounds next time.

Right on.

I like the intro bass with the filtered beat. It's something I'm a fan of, that's why it's in almost all of my songs. But shit, that synth. It's really powerful. It's kinda funny I picked this song, when I was discussing about how I'm gonna make this year something, with someone. It really added to the dramatic effect, for me. Right on.
I like the beat, and the melody a lot. They flow so well, together.
OH SHIT!!! A fuckin' hip hop like beat. SHEEEEEIT! That's fuckin' dope! I didn't see that shit coming. Oh my god, dude. I don't mean to flip out, but that just really caught me. What a fuckin' genius idea!
It'd be sweet to have some lyrics at that part. Shit, dude. I'm loving it, dude.
Pro as fuck.

MarioMan94 responds:

thanks for the review. For the synths, I used an Audjoo Helix vst, but sadly they're no longer open-beta (free). It costs $150, but if you can still find a free beta somewhere it's great to use for melodies.

oh, and one Sytrus for the first bassline beat. =)

Dynamite.

I'm feeling the melody and beat. It's really neat. The occassional ozzy voice is very interesting. I like it. Too bad there aren't other vocals eh. Oh shit!!! Crazy Train guitar gone electronic. Damn. That's really fuckin' nice, dude. I'm really feeling this song, now.
I'm not much of a fan on the screaming "All aboard" though. I'm just not feeling it, for some reason. This has such has a really good beat.
The only ALL ABOARD I liked was at the start and at the end. I thought the one at the end was going to set up for like a crazy synth, but it didn't. =[
It's pretty nice, man.

theta4 responds:

Well, I wanted this to be a psytrance version of Crazy Train, so I decided to sample the original and use the same melodies and stuff. I'm glad you liked it.

Flow.

Shit. I'm feeling this beat. I'm likin' the laughs, too. I don't like the heavy echo on the voice at like... :17. But wow, these lyrics are the perfect volume compared the music. Wow, man. This is really nicely mastered. Professional sounding.
The lyrics are okay, but I'm not so good at hearing that kind of stuff, so maybe you could pass me off the lyrics if you've got them.
The ending was really sudden, to me, but then again, I'm not looking at the time limit, I'm just writing this review. But now that I see it's only 1:15, I'm kinda disappointed. Maybe you'll come back to this and make a nice remix that's longer, or something. You oughta try a project with war-spawn. Maybe you have, I dunno. I think it'd be neat if you guys combined your styles.

InGenius responds:

Dawg, Spawn is def on my list. He made the "Storms" track specifically for me to spit a 3 verse track to. Now that the new mic is in, that's at the top of my list of things to finish. Thanks for the review.

Peace

Pretty neat.

The intro reminds me of a classical composition. I really dig this piano. Has a nice flow with the strings. I could have saw this being mad into a hip hop track, to be honest, man.
I really like the kicks you used. The beats sounded pretty neat. The song sounds really good to me, but I don't really like the hi hats. They could use some work, if you ask me. I just don't like how they're placed so close together, that you can hardly make out the individual notes they make.
The song is pretty basic, and didn't seem to have much of a peak. Sounded like an intro and a few chorus', but no main riff, you know?

SessileNomad responds:

the thing with hardstyle(at least alot that i hear), the melodies dont really change much, idk why
i was goingto make a second melody, or a different chorus, but im lazy
i could easily see this becoming hip-hop as well
the hats were really just somthing i put to diffrentiate the differnt parts, i SHOULD use different sounds and different melodies

idk i plan to go back to this when i get hit with another hardstyle-ish riff

thanks for review, and i will review your stuff right now

This is pretty neat, man...

The intro is nice and smooth. And so is the entire song. Like, I'm really feeling this song, dude. Only problem, is you have no beat. The song feels like it's just lacking hardcore. If it had that beat, I'd probably orgasm everywhere. But no seriously, beats are important. If you want, I'm sure you could find some neat drum packs in the AF, man. Check 'em out.
The melodies are gorgeous, though man. This sounds downright 8-bit. How slick would this be with some 8-bit drums? It'd sound like some game for the NES. Right on, man.
Shit was pretty good, not gonna lie.
You can hit me back if you want, with a review. =]

loansindi responds:

I actually have written a nice little drum line for this, I just haven't gotten around to uploading it. It's also gotten longer.

But thanks for the review, I do really love this song, I don't usually write in a major key and this song is a big departure from that. When I get back home I'll be sure to upload the latest version of this.

I'm glad you liked it, and I'll be sure to hit up your stuff later!

It's been a frickin' minute.
